John Carroll Lynch began a film career with “Grumpy Old Men” in 1993 that now spans over 40 films including “Fargo,” “Zodiac,” “Face/Off,”  “Gran Torino,”  “The Good Girl,” and “Shutter Island.”


Legendary film film makers, such as Martin Scorcese, Clint Eastwood, David Fincher, Albert Brooks, John Woo and Joel and Ethan Coen have included him in their work.


On television, he is a veteran of 5 series, most notably, “The Drew Carey Show”(for which he was nominated for a GLAAD award), “The Brotherhood of Poland, N.H.” and HBO’s “Carnivále.” 

He has performed at regional theaters across the country on plays by Shakespeare, Chekhov, Ibsen, Donald Margulies, Beth Henley and Arthur Miller and many others.  He was a member of the Guthrie Theater Company for 8 seasons. 


His theater work has been under the direction of world class artists like Garland Wright, Stanley Wojewodski, Daniel Sullivan, Joanne Akalaitis, Doug Hughes, Michael Kahn, Lisa Peterson, and Ethan McSweeney.


His Voiceover credits include commercials and video games as well as FOX’s “Family Guy.” He has written screenplays, and is in the process of producing his first feature, “Crew.” 


He received his B.F.A. from Catholic University, magna cum laude as well as Phi Beta Kappa.


In 2008 he received the Hayden Fellowship and was a guest lecturer at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  He has also served as a judge for the Irene Ryan Scholarship for the Kennedy Center Theater College Theater Festival. He received his B.F.A. from Catholic University, magna cum laude as well as Phi Beta Kappa.


Brenda Wehle and he have been married for 12 years and he is grateful for his step-daughter’s Sarah and Emily.


He has volunteered at organizations like Habitat for Humanity and when he had the good fortune to be working in New Orleans LA, he began a relationship with the St. Bernard Project.  That organization’s leader Liz McCarthy was the recipient of the CNN “Heroes” award.
